Water Cost & Savings Calculator
See roughly how much water and money your sprinklers use each month — and how much a tuned-up, efficient system could put back in your pocket.
Your zones
Tell us how many zones of each type you have, then enter your peak summer (July) runtimes.
Fixed sprays

How does your current spray system look?
Used to estimate MP-rotator savings — misting, overspray, and runoff mean more to gain.
Water rate
Check your utility bill for the exact rate.
Pressure doesn't set gallons on its own — flow (GPM) does. But high pressure atomizes water into drifting mist, so regulating it down to 40 psi (PRS40) is part of the savings.

Fixing the schedule, pressure, and broken heads commonly cuts use about 25% — roughly 19,680 gallons a season.
Book a system tune-upWorth a closer look
- You entered system pressure but no zone flow (GPM). Pressure alone can’t give gallons — we assumed a typical 10 GPM per zone, so treat totals as rough.
Upgrade to MP rotators
Estimated potential water savings: 20–40%
MP (matched precipitation) rotators apply water slowly and evenly at a much lower rate than spray heads, so almost none is lost to misting, overspray, or runoff. We install them on PRS40 pressure-regulated bodies that hold every nozzle at its designed 40 psi. Because MP rotators need longer runtimes than sprays, this compares adjusted schedules — not the same runtime — so the savings are realistic.
What most affects your estimate
- Zone 5 uses the most water this season (~19,680 gal).
- No zone flow was entered, so we assumed 10 GPM per zone — entering real GPM will sharpen the estimate the most.
- Runtime and days-per-week drive the total — you currently apply 480 zone-minutes per week.
60%
In our climate, landscape irrigation is the biggest water use in the average home — roughly 60% of everything you use goes outside. That's why tuning the sprinklers, dropping the pressure, and upgrading to efficient nozzles has such an outsized effect on your total bill.
This calculator provides an estimate. Actual usage depends on nozzle selection, operating pressure, sprinkler spacing, system condition, weather, rainfall, soil, and your water provider’s rates.
